The United Way of Amarillo and Canyon held the 2025 Day of Caring Friday, bringing together over 400 volunteers for a full day of hands-on service.

“So we got several nonprofit sites, but 14 ramp builds today too with the Texas Ramp Project, so we have teams at all 14 of those sites as well just building ramps for individuals who really need to be able to get in and out of their homes, get to medical appointments and who need a ramp,” said Haley Stoddard, United Way of Amarillo & Canyon Senior Director of Community Impact.

Volunteers who participated in the Day of Caring focused their efforts on 14 ramp builds and as well as seven large-scale site projects, which the United Way said address critical needs ranging from accessibility to facility organization and beautification.

Henry and Dinah Wyckoff, the Amarillo Regional Coordinators, along with volunteers from the Amarillo community coordinated the extraordinary effort of building the 14 ramps, with 7 being built in the morning and 7 built in the afternoon.
