The Melissa Carter Memorial Grant honors the legacy of Melissa Carter, who served as Director of the Area Agency on Aging for fifteen years until her passing on June 29, 2021. A passionate advocate for seniors, Melissa’s kindness, leadership, and dedication left an indelible mark on the Amarillo/Panhandle community. This grant celebrates her servant’s heart and supports programs that continue her mission of compassion and care for older adults.
According to Debra King, Director of the Area Agency on Aging of the Panhandle, “This grant recognizes your organization’s outstanding commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults in the Texas Panhandle. Your organization’s program exemplifies the values Melissa championed. We are proud to support your efforts to carry forward her legacy of service.”
The Texas Ramp Project, Regional Coordinators Dinah and Henry Wyckoff, and all our Amarillo and Panhandle volunteers are honored to have received this grant which will allow the Texas Ramp Project to continue to build wheelchair ramps in the Panhandle community and to ensure we continue to honor the legacy of Melissa Carter.
