Volunteers: with your help, we have built 8 ramps in Angelina County so far this year! THANK YOU!

Home Depot has partnered with us to build ramps with their program which provides employees incentives to participate in community service projects. We are actively looking for additional companies willing to participate.

Make It Happen Missions, a local 501(c)(3), has also become active partners to help secure volunteers at multiple ramp builds. We are looking for other non-profit organizations, church groups, and civic clubs who would like to build with us.

What to Expect

Start times:
07:30 AM September – May (Regular season)
07:00 AM June – August (Summer season)

  • Plan on staying until the ramp is finished. Some ramps take longer than others due to size, complexity, and amount of on-site customization. If you must leave at a certain time, please make this known to the Build Leader when you arrive on-site. Ramps are typically finished in 3 to 6 hours but that is not a guarantee.
  • Be prepared for safe construction work – flip flops or similar shoes are unsafe and should not be worn. If your group consists of volunteers under the age of 18, we require at least two adults to accompany them.
  • All tools will be provided. (You may bring cordless drill/drivers if you have one.) Bring a hat, work gloves, snacks/lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
  • The build leader will contact you by email and/or text in the event of a weather-related issue which will impact the build schedule.
  • We welcome anyone to our volunteer community age 16 and older. However, if your organization has children younger than 16 years old, please contact Lee Harris at leeh@texasramps.org or 512-864-5538 to discuss how we can accommodate your team. Our onsite Build Leader will be leading the wheelchair ramp build and cannot be responsible for supervising or monitoring the children, therefore, the parents and/or adult supervisors need to be responsible for the children to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all Volunteers.
  • When you register below, please provide a valid email address and cell phone number so that we may contact you with site location several days before the Build and bad weather information should the need arise.
  • If you have any questions, please contact Lee Harris at leeh@texasramps.org or 512-864-5538.
  • Thank you for your support of the Texas Ramp Project in Angelina County.
