Beaumont — They have a vision to improve people’s lives, and the organization Nehemiah’s Vision is making that happen by constructing wheelchair ramps for families to help break down barriers.
A group of volunteers from Houston came to Beaumont this week to help build wheelchair ramps and do some home repairs.
It’s part of something called the Texas Ramp Project.

For 40 years, the project has helped build ramps for those who find their steps a barrier.
The ramps allow people to leave their homes safely and independently, especially critical in a fire or other emergency.
Nehemiah’s Vision partnered with the Texas Ramp Project to help get the work done on Royal Street. “Volunteering, paying it forward, unfortunately is at an all-time low right now,” said Nehemiah’s Vision Executive Director Marcelo Molfino. “Programs like this and projects like this with local non-profits is huge, because it affects everybody.”
Ramps are built exclusively with volunteer labor, keeping costs to a minimum.
