Things to know for Volunteers

Plan on staying until the ramp is finished. Some ramps take longer than others due to size, complexity, and amount of on-site customization. If you must leave at a certain time, please make this known to the Team Leader or at the warehouse as ramp assignments are being made. On average, ramps are finished by 2:00 PM or before but that is not a guarantee.

Be prepared for safe construction work – flip flops or similar shoes are unsafe and should not be worn. We also need to have at least two adults able to use or learn how to use an electric drill/screwdriver and assist other volunteers.

If you have one, bring your battery-powered drill. (at least one for every two people). Also please bring work gloves, hats and other protection from heat and the sun, lunch (or snacks) and plenty of water, especially on hot days.

We welcome anyone to our volunteer community ages 16 and older. However, if your organization has children younger than 16 years old, please contact us to discuss how we can accommodate your team. Our onsite Team Leaders will be leading the wheelchair ramp build and cannot be responsible for supervising or monitoring the children, therefore, the parents and/or adult supervisors need to be responsible for the children to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all Volunteers.

We cannot transport volunteers to/from the wheelchair ramp building site.
